How Ratings Work

Our rating system is designed to be fair, verifiable, and meaningful. No anonymous ratings. No unverified reviews.

📋

Per-Project Client Review

After each completed engagement, the asset owner rates your work across five dimensions: technical quality, communication, timeliness, value for money, and likelihood to re-engage. Reviews are verified — only clients who awarded work can submit a review.

⭐

Weighted Rating System

Ratings are weighted by project complexity and value. A thorough RBI assessment for a large refinery carries more weight than a brief desktop review. This prevents gaming by accumulating low-value micro-projects.

💬

Written Reviews

Clients can provide detailed written reviews that appear publicly on your profile. You have the right to respond. Unresolved disputes are mediated by the Astrext team.

📈

Trend Visibility

Your profile shows your rating trend over time, not just your current average. Consistent improvement is rewarded. A specialist with a rising 4.6 rating is often more attractive than a stagnant 4.8.

The Five Rating Dimensions

35%
Technical Quality
Was the work technically correct, well-justified, and code-compliant? Did it reflect genuine specialist knowledge?
20%
Communication
Was the specialist responsive, clear in their reporting, and effective at explaining complex issues to non-specialists?
20%
Timeliness
Were milestones and deadlines met? Was there proactive communication about any schedule impact?
15%
Value for Money
Was the quality of work proportional to the fee charged? Did the scope match the original proposal?
10%
Likelihood to Re-engage
Would the client hire this specialist again or recommend them to a peer?

How to Build a Standout Profile

Data-driven advice from our top-performing consultants.

01
Complete Your Profile Fully
Profiles with photos, complete bios, uploaded CVs, and detailed discipline tags receive 3× more client contact than incomplete profiles. Spend time on this.
02
Be Specific About Your Niche
"Mechanical Engineer" is not a niche. "API 579 Fitness-for-Service specialist in high-temperature refinery equipment" is. The more specific, the higher the match quality and the less competition.
03
Respond to Opportunities Quickly
Data shows that proposals submitted within 24 hours of opportunity posting win at twice the rate of late proposals. Set up notifications and respond quickly.
04
Write High-Quality Proposals
A strong proposal explicitly addresses the client's stated problem, demonstrates you've read their scope carefully, and includes a clear methodology outline. Generic proposals rarely win.
05
Request Reviews Proactively
Clients often don't leave reviews unless reminded. At project completion, send a polite request. A well-timed ask doubles review submission rate.
06
Add Case Studies and Portfolio Items
Anonymised case studies from previous projects (with client permission) dramatically increase profile engagement. Describe the problem, your approach, and the outcome.
