Chartered engineer status, relevant certifications (NACE, API, IChemE, IMechE, IET, SPE, etc.), or equivalent demonstrable professional standing.

Industrial Sector Background
Experience in oil & gas, refining, petrochemicals, power generation, LNG, or adjacent process industries. We do not accept purely academic or non-industrial applicants.

At least three completed project references demonstrating the type of work you will offer through the platform.

Technical Review

A senior specialist in your discipline reviews your application in detail, assessing depth of expertise, project complexity, and track record. Some applicants may receive a brief technical questionnaire.

Identity Verification

We verify your professional identity and optionally confirm certifications with issuing bodies (NACE, API, IChemE, etc.) where consent is provided.

Common Questions

Is there a fee to join?
No. Registration and profile creation are completely free. Astrext charges a success fee (percentage of project value) only when work is awarded through the platform.
Can I join if I'm currently employed full-time?
Yes. Many of our specialists are employed full-time and take on project work as side consultancies, during leave periods, or as pre-retirement transition. You control your availability calendar.
What if my application is declined?
We provide specific feedback on why an application was not accepted and what would need to change for re-application. Most declined applications are due to insufficient documentation rather than insufficient experience.
How long does my profile stay active?
Profiles remain active indefinitely as long as you remain engaged (respond to opportunity alerts within 30 days). Inactive profiles are paused after 6 months and can be reactivated at any time.
Can I list multiple disciplines?
Yes. You can list a primary discipline and up to three secondary disciplines. Secondary disciplines must meet the same minimum experience requirements.
